Meetup Groups:

Asheville Stay-at-Home Moms Playgroup - This group is for fun, stay at home mommas who are looking for fun things to do around town with other mommas! (This is for moms who really want to be involved only!) I am hoping to form a tight knit group of moms and friends who can have fun together during the day with our children but can also go out at night for moms’ nights out or in.

North Asheville Sweet Peas - If you are a stay-at-home or work-at-home mom in the Asheville or North Asheville areas looking for the chance to get out with your kids, socialize and build some new friendships I’d love for you to join this group!

Plum Mom’s Club - Plum Moms Club offers free weekly playgroups, monthly moms night out activities, and quarterly community service projects. Many of these playgroups are attended by members of Stroller Strides, but it is not required to be a participant. However, we do invite you to come out and try a Stroller Strides class–your first class is always free (see www.strollerstrides.net/asheville for more info).

Arden Moms Meetup Group - This meetup was created for stay-at-home moms to meet one another in the Arden area. Our hope is to make friendships for ourselves and our children, and to form a sense of community.

Parents of Ethical Kids - The Ethical Society of Asheville sponsors this group to provide information to parents of Ethical kids/YouthQuest kids.

Playgroup (with blocks) for Kids with Autism and Asperger’s - As per several parents’ requests, we are going to start a free Lego play group for children with Autism and Asperger’s. We are going to focus on what some of your children love, LEGOS, and at the same time work on social skills, behavior, and communication.

Asheville Dads - This is the equivalent to the”No Girls Allowed” clubs you built when you were a kid…unless of course you have daughters. They are cool. So, let’s say this is a “No Mommies Allowed” club. Through this group, we would like to schedule outdoor gatherings and stuff for men with kids at home.

Mountain Area Child and Family Center - 2586 Riceville Rd. Asheville 28805. 828.298.0808. The Mothers On the Move (MOMs) program is designed to support and assist the mothers we serve in continuing their education, whether it’s to get a high school diploma or GED, take ESOL classes, receive a certification or a college degree. The program has several components: each participant gets weekly intensive one-on-one assistance from a skilled Social Worker to discuss goals, challenges, and information relating to the process of education; such as how to apply, how and where to find financial aid, etc. The Social Worker also helps participants address family and financial concerns and personal issues that may affect the process of enrolling and being successful in an educational setting.
